Audit Committee:
PTSA members verify the accuracy of the PTSA financial books and records of the financial officer,
and assures the general membership that the funds are being managed within the state regulations. Committee meets in the summer.
Beautification:
In the fall and spring, this committee coordinates volunteers to weed and
mulch the grounds in the front of the school, and decorates for seasons or
events.
Box Tops & Campbell Labels Committee: Members gather box tops and Campbell labels collected by students and submit
to vendor for earned items.
Budget Committee: :
Members meet during the summer in order to discuss and develop the goals and objectives
(programs, projects, and activities) of the PTSA in terms of income and expenses for the upcoming school year.
Fall/Spring Fundraiser Committee: Volunteers
distribute fundraiser materials, collect money and distribute products at
delivery/pick up time, if needed.
Friday Morning Coffee:
This committee solicits and collects donations of coffee from parents of
students to have coffee for the teachers every Friday morning.
Hospitality Committee: :
Members set up and clean up for supported school functions and events through the
year such as American Education Week, Concerts, etc.
Market Day:
Coordinate and help with distributing flyers, processing orders and
assisting with the pick-up of the pre-packaged foods which are ordered in
advance. This is on a monthly basis. Pick-up is one night a month, and
reminder phone calls are made each month.
Membership:
Organize the PTSA membership drive at the beginning of the school
year.
Newsletter Editor:
This person compiles PTSA news information and sets up the PTSA Panther Beat
newsletter on a monthly basis.
Nominating Committee:
Selected by the PTSA Executive Board and is responsible for nominating the
best-qualified nominees for each elected office of the PTSA.
PHHS Liaison
This parent attends the monthly PTSA meeting at Perry Hall High
School on the first Tuesday of every month, and reports pertinent
information back to the parents at the PHMS PTSA monthly meeting or via the
newsletter.
Print Shop/Paw
Print Committee: This
committee copies materials for teachers that are distributed to students.
Public Relations: Keep in contact
with local newspapers by submitting articles about events happening at
school.
Scholarship Committee:
Members
review applications for scholarships
from former
PHMS students, now in local high schools, who are also
PTSA members at their schools.
Committee members choose the candidates and present the scholarships at high
school ceremonies), if needed.
Spirit Wear Committee:
Members sell
T-shirts, sweatshirts and other clothing at low cost to promote school
spirit; in addition to distributing marketing materials and products upon
arrival. Spirit wear is sold at
PTSA and school functions.
Star Search Talent Show Committee: Star
search duties involve audition, dress rehearsal and show preparation. Help
is needed on designated nights to sell tickets, collect tickets and assist
with other duties.
Student Recognition Committee:
Gold card -
This committee helps with copying and and distributing the "Gold Card" given
to students who maintain academic achievement and are on the honor roll each
quarter. Help is needed to make awards available monthly.
Red Bag - Members are needed to prepare
and distribute a Red Bag that is awarded to approximately 80-90 students
each month. The awards are given to a student from a faculty member and they
may only
receive the award one time each year.
Sunshine Committee:
Members
of this committee assist with the monies that are collected during winter
and spring musical programs donated to John Hopkins Pediatric Burn unit.
Teacher Appreciation Committee:
These
volunteers provide staff tokens of appreciation throughout the year and plan
a week of teacher appreciation activities during National PTA - Teacher
Appreciation Week. Committee duties involve soliciting donations and
planning activities for over 100 staff members, as well as showing
appreciation in other ways throughout the week. Ideas, donations, bakers,
and decorators are all needed.
Toys for Tots Committee:
This
committee collects toys for the less fortunate children. Toys are collected
and distributed by the Marines. Committee members work in conjunction with
a faculty representative.
Volunteer Coordinator:
Make up volunteer lists for back-to-school night,
and distribute these lists to the PTSA committee chair people. Assist other
committee chairs with finding volunteers.
Webmaster:
Keeps PTSA website updated with PTSA and school events. Creates and
sends E-nnouncements, as needed.
